Kinesio Taping


The Kinesio Taping Method is one of the latest modalities within the field of injury and biomechanical rehabilitation. Developed by Dr Kenzo Kaze within the 1980s and through extensive research and development, this form of taping has become one of the most trusted forms of therapeutic taping. It was widely used within the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games to facilitate recovery and support injuries for it's athletes. Today it is used within therapy centres worldwide to aid their clients biomechanical issues.

Benefits:


Pain & Inflammation Reduction:The Kinesio Tape and method of taping creates a lift of the superficial tissues, taking pressure away from pain receptors. In regards to inflammation, the taping method creates a micro massage effect and lift to the superficial layers of the skin, creating more flow between deeper layers of the skin and tissues below it. This may aid taking the compressive discomfort of inflammation away from the injury site, limiting a pain cycle and aiding recovery.


Easing of Swelling and Bruising:Due to the lifting nature of the Kinesio Taping Method, it may help promote lymphatic flow, easing swelling away from the affected area. This may also help disburse haematomas laying underneath the skin in the form of bruising, aiding in the dispersal of bruising and discolouration of the skin through bruising.


Biomechanical Correction:The taping method can aid misaligned joints to be corrected into a healthier alignment, helping the surrounding muscles and fascia.

Aids Muscle Relaxation & Muscle Strengthening:Kinesio Tape can provide support to muscles that are weak or overused to help them re correct into a healthier pattern of motion.
