" Feelings come and go like clouds in the sky, conscious breathing is my anchor"- Thich Nhat Hanh
Meditation
Meditation is a method of focus to aid in many benefits on the mind and overall well being. The word meditation derives from the Latin word "meditatio", meaning "to think, to ponder".
By focusing the mind, to enable a sense of stillness to the mind, we are able to gain focus and a consciousness of our being. It allows us to be in the present, to enable calm and help reduce stress on our minds and in our lives. This practice helps with a greater control on well being, greater quality of relaxation and sleep, promote positive outlooks and help with many situations we may encounter in our day to day lives.
Recent research on meditation has shown significant results on people who suffer with anxiety and depression, high stress levels and stress related symptoms such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome & Hypertension. Also may help with pain management within certain conditions that cause long standing pain or inflammation. Meditation creates a relaxation response which helps the body to learn not to fight pain but to work with it and relax.
Meditation courses are run throughout the year in the Colchester clinic, to aid people in learning to meditate in various forms, to use as a tool within their daily lives.
